New Unit Assistance I-WG Hybrid Meeting
Industry representatives gathered at Cannington Court in Somerset to discuss how Operator Fundamentals can be embedded earlier in the development of new nuclear units. The workshop provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on progress within their own projects, identify areas for improvement, and share practical experience across different organisations and countries.
Discussions highlighted the importance of establishing strong organisational ownership from the outset, with operations, maintenance and human performance specialists involved early in the project lifecycle.
The insights captured during the workshop will help shape future guidance developed by the working groups, ensuring it reflects a range of national, organisational and project contexts. Participants were encouraged to provide further feedback to support the continued development of practical, effective guidance that strengthens safe, operable and sustainable transitions from construction to operations.
