Sacha gets clued up at Cannington

EDF’s training and events hub plays host to Sacha for her third EDF stop.

Hot on the heels from their visit to Hinkley Point C, the Round Britain Climate Challenge team rocked up at EDF’s training and events hub at Cannington Court in Somerset for an action-packed schedule of talks, presentations and tours.

After a brief introduction by EDF’s Head of Facilities Services, Andy Ractliffe, Sacha was given a presentation by Clive Hall of BDG Architects. Clive led the architectural feasibility study for Cannington and later went on to head up the design team for the main refurbishment project.

Sacha then heard talks from Mike Ardis of SHEco Renewable Systems on the sustainable energy systems in place at the centre, and EDF’s Head of EV Projects, Phil Valarino, who spoke about EV charging. She was then shown around the brand new Hinkley Point visitor centre, a state-of-the-art facility which highlights the importance of nuclear in the UK’s energy mix and features several interactive displays explaining the technical information of nuclear power.

In the afternoon there were presentations from ECO’s Mark Dallen and I&C’s Sharron Sage, followed by an interview with Sacha, conducted by the Communications team’s Vicki Dingwall.
